When Storm, an English golden retriever saw a young deer struggling in the Long Island Sound, he jumped in and swam out to save her. Stormâs owner, Mark Freeley, says his dog grabbed the deer by the neck and swam back to shore, capturing the surprising scene on video.
When the fawn was back on shore, Storm followed her, laying down next to her, and even nudging her to make sure she was okay, Freely explains. But when the experts he called to check on the deer showed up, she got spooked and ran back into the water.
The deer was eventually brought back in by people from the Strong Island Rescue and sheâs now being held at an animal rescue until she recovers. But without Storm jumping in to save the baby deer first, who knows what wouldâve happened.
