These $900 Gucci Sneakers Come Pre-Dirtied

Looking for a new pair of springtime sneakers? Gucci has you covered with some fresh footwear and one style that’s selling for $870 even comes looking dirty, when they’re fresh out of the box. With the Screener Leather Sneaker, they’ve taken what look like they could’ve been white shoes at some point and given them a very broken-in look.

The luxury brand describes the shoes as “Influenced by classic trainers from the ‘70s, the Screener sneakers — named for the defensive sports move — feature the Web Stripe on the side and vintage Gucci logo, treated for an allover distressed effect.”

Distressed? Sure, that’s one way to describe it. But is that really what you want in your brand new pair of shoes? If this is the height of fashion, parents are in luck because this is what kids’ sneakers tend to look like after they’ve worn them once or twice, so they’ll totally be in style.

And this part about the shoe cleaning instructions is pretty good, too: “Clean when the shoe is dry, using only neutral or same-color products to avoid staining.” Good one Gucci!
