The Gold Star Legacy Business Event, taking place this Friday, February 3rd, 2023 from 4:30-7pm at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds Keppy Building, invites area businesses to attend this networking and awareness event. The event will feature speakers, Leo Kaalberg II, a two-time Purple Heart award recipient and retired Army veteran who served 4 tours of combat in Iraq, and U.S. Navy SEAL (ret), David Gutierrez. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn who the 2023 SFL beneficiary families will be, learn more about upcoming SFL events and programs that support the community, and free food and a cash bar will be available.

This event kicks off SFL’s activities for the 2023 calendar year with more events planned this coming summer.
SFL’s differentiator is specifically serving Gold Star military families with children, selecting a minimum of 1-3 families each year, one of which includes a Navy SEAL family. At least one regionally local family (immediate to QCA/Iowa City/Cedar Rapids or bordering IA) is selected along with families from other states (many SEAL families reside on the West or East coast).
SFL is a 100% volunteer organization and donations go directly to the families they serve.
