Drew Barrymore's daughter is doing "fine" after an accident overseas sent her to the hospital.
On Thursday (September 4), the 50 First Dates star appeared as a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where she shared how plans to meet up with Stephen Colbert fell through when one of her daughters was hospitalized in another country after crashing on an electric bike, per E! News. Barrymore shares daughters Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10, with ex-husband Will Kopelman.
"The last time we were supposed to get together, my daughter ended up having an accident," she said, stressing that her daughter is doing well now. "My daughter, actually she got in an e-bike accident. In France, which sounds so fabulous. Yes, so we were in fabulous France and then she had an e-bike accident."
The Whip It director explained that her daughter was "like a mile in the mountains" at the time of her accident, which "ripped her whole elbow open" and caused her to "[spend] days in an E.R. in and out." Fortunately the tween's quick thinking proved she's good in a crisis.
"But she ripped off her bra and turned it into a tourniquet," she said, adding, "That's just who she is. And I just marvel at her."
The feeling appears to be mutual, as evidenced by the way her daughters surprised her for her 50th birthday earlier this year. Both girls penned heartfelt, and hilarious, letters to their mom as a special surprise on an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.
