The Last Full Moon Of The Year Will Appear Tonight!

Tonight will be the last night of the year where you'll be able to see a full moon! This last full moon of the year is known as the "Cold Moon" and it should reach its peak illumination around 8:09pm PST tonight, December 7th.

The "Cold Moon" is also expected to fully eclipse Mars and it should have a high orbit in the sky, which means that it'll stay "above the horizon for a longer period of time than most full moons." You should be able to watch the "lunar occultation" a few hours after sunset and you'll be able to see Mars as a bright "star" that has a reddish glow around it.

This last full moon of the year is called "Cold Moon," because of its appearance at this time of the year where the cold weather "truly begins to grip us." To see exactly when it'll appear by you, you can head to Moonrise Calculator or click here.
