First of all, let's just take a moment to appreciate the pun. The only thing better would be if Kicks Brooks made an album called Re-Boot (haha get it?).
When this album dropped, Zac Brown Band referred to Ronnie Dunn on Twitter as the most beautiful voice in country music, and I wholeheartedly agree. Even aside from his expertly honed vocal technique, his voice just has this unbeatable natural beauty. Clear as a bell, strong as a fiddle with such internal power, he could sing you to sleep or rock your world all night long. Dunn's vocals can cast a spell on anybody who hears him.
Re-Dunn is everything we love about our boy Ronnie. Upon first listen, I felt like I was seven years old again. It's dusty back-roads and neon lights reflecting in the ice of your whiskey. While the sound is appropriately keeping with 2020 standards, it's the same Ronnie Dunn we know, love, and have missed. I personally love that it doesn't feel all that different from what he's done before. Sometimes it's nice when an artist we haven't seen in a while just gives us more of their style that we adore. This isn't Dunn trying anything new necessarily, but it's grown into the new decade and shown us he's still got it. Like trying on your first pair of cowboy boots and finding that they still fit. Who says the old dogs can't hang with the new kids?
Amarillo by Morning is definitely my favorite track on the album. Go give it a listen!
