Halsey was one of the many celebrities who took part in the Women’s March this weekend in New York, and she shared a poem of about her experience with sexual assault.
"I don't really know how to do a speech unless it rhymes, so I'm gonna do a little poem for you guys," she said, before launching into, “A Story Like Mine,” in which she recounted accompanying a 14-year-old friend to Planned Parenthood after she was raped, and tells of being sexually assaulted herself by the son of a family friend and by a former boyfriend and more.
“It's 2018 and I've realized nobody is safe long as she is alive/And every friend that I know has a story like mine,” she adds. “And that's why we're here/ And that's why we rally…There is work to be done/ There are songs to be sung/ Lord knows there's a war to be won.” Check out her full speech below.
